Going Camping....

We (me) decided to give camping another try. Everything was looking really good for the trip. Beautiful weather, great friends, lots of food to eat! We (josh, sabrina, aaron, brian and I) headed out to Devils Den around 5:00 on Friday, July 4th. We made it out there and found out that we had to walk about 1/4 of a mile from the parked cars to our campsite. Not too bad BUT when you take into consideration all the stuff we have plus the fact that we have to cross a creek--makes it a little more difficult! We finally make it there will all of our stuff and we are all soaked with sweat. We down like 2 water bottles each while we set up camp:

Once the boys got the fire started:

It was so wet out there we had to use kerosene from the lantern! lol! So, we grilled out and sat around the fire and just chilled. Moses, Sasse, and Kafkah were there hanging out with us:

All was well that night and I was having a blast. Lets fast forward to the next morning.....we are up and cooking breakfast. I am making potatoes and they are pretty seasoned with some stuff. One falls out of the pan and I tossed it in the direction of the dogs. Sasse eats it. Not five mintues later her face starts to BLOW UP! We are sitting there watching her face literally swell bigger every 2 minutes. I start freaking out b/c I'm thinking she's going to die and we are responsible for her! So, we pack up as quick as possible, give her some bendadryl and head back home. Poor Sasse!

Before:
After:

She was drooling everywhere poor thing! It took about 3 days, but she eventually was fine. She was just drugged up on bendadryl and sleeping ALOT. So much for camping experience #2!! Oh well, maybe one day all will be fine while out in the wilderness!

Still amazed we got the fire going. We'll have to do it again sometime, with a little more planning... like bring our own firewood.
